Often when we think of fasting, we think of giving up something. But in Isaiah 58, the Lord turned this concept of fasting on its head. He invites us to sacrifice ourselves in this way: “… let the oppressed go free… share your bread with the hungry…”
Join us as we meditate on this scripture and others that are central to the heart of Christ. Together let us practice fun, everyday life application of True Fasting!
Included in the Lenten Devotional Guide:
- A weekly devotional exploring concepts of true fasting beginning on Ash Wednesday, February 14, 2018
- Fun daily Compassion Challenges for each day of Lent. These Compassion Challenges are practical opportunities to cultivate a lifestyle of compassion!

Why do we observe Lent?
The Lenten season begins with Ash Wednesday (February 14th) and ends with the celebration of the resurrection of Christ, on Easter Sunday (April 1st). The 40 days of Lent are in commemoration of Jesus’ 40 days of fasting and temptation in the desert prior to launching his ministry.
Growing together as a community in Christ!
As a team, the Women of Hope International staff actively seek to go deeper in our understanding of who God is, what it looks like to be transformed by Christ and walk as He walked. As we walk and work among the poor and marginalized, Isaiah 58 has been formative in our thinking. Our hope is that you might be blessed and challenged as well by this devotional and that it will help you grow in your walk with Christ.
