Allies in Hope Short-Term Teams – 2012

Become an Ally in Hope and come with us on a short-term team to Sierra Leone in 2012.

Construction Team and Skills Training: February 29 - March 13, 2012

We are looking for a team of men or women with a background in construction, masonry, carpentry or general handyman skills to supervise and lead the digging of a well and latrines, building a water tower and a generator house for the Women of Hope office in Makeni.

Along with the construction team, we’re looking for a few men or women who can teach a class of women how to make a craft or product they will be able to sell locally or internationally as part of our fair trade project. If you are creative or artistically gifted, this could be an opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of women with disabilities in Sierra Leone.

Administrative Support Team: March 11- 20, 2012

Women of Hope is seeking a few men or women to help make the office in Makeni more sustainable and operate more efficiently. Specifically we are looking for people with experience or background in the following areas:


  • IT (networking, virus removal, software installation, etc)
  • Accounting (review of books with written report and recommendations)
  • Photography

If you are skilled in any of these areas, please contact us for more specifics.

Scriptural and Health Education Song Production: March 18-27, 2012

There will be a team dedicated to working with women to produce Scripture songs and recordings in some of Sierra Leone’s native tribal languages to help share God’s word in musical form and teach and train those who cannot read. If you are at all interested in a project like this, please contact staff for more information about how you may be of assistance.

Details:

Cost of trip is $3,200 which includes air fare, insurance and all in-country costs once you arrive. Additional costs prior to going will include passport, visa ($140), immunizations (varies) and malaria medication (varies).
