Chronological Bible Storying
For people who live in cultures that have a high sensitivity to the spirit realm, the stories start with the creation of the angelic beings and the fall of Satan. This gives a reference point for where the evil spirits, which are highly feared, have come from. Following the discussion of the creation of spirits is the story of the creation of the world and man and then the fall of man.
As the stories progress, the listeners begin to see the connections between the things that they have known and believed and the things that were previously unknown. Each story is told separately, sometimes using a simple illustration as a visual reminder. Once the story is told, the listeners are given the chance to retell the story. When they can retell the story with accuracy, they continue to tell the story to those in their spheres of influence, following the same pattern.
Once the listeners have heard the stories of the Old Testament they begin tounderstand the need for a sacrifice for atonement for sin and the futility of imperfect animal sacrifices to accomplish this great need. Then, and only then, is the person of Christ revealed as the perfect atoning sacrifice for sin, and the plan of redemption begins to make sense.
